A Great big thanks to the Youth of First United Methodist Church from Midland, Michigan for helping us prepare for the Easter Family Fest held on April 7, 2012.  We couldn't have done it without you. It was a blessing getting to meet you and work with you. You are a great group of young people working for Christ.

Easter Family Fun Fest
Great Success

The Easter Family Fun Fest was a huge success. There were about 350 children in attendance. Many thanks to all the parents for bringing the children and supporting this event.  Our concessions and the Betsy's Chip Contest earned much needed funds to pay for this event and other Will’s Way projects.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - May 1, 2012 - By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWow! We are now receiving summer camp applications from near and far.  It is so exciting to be able to serve Jesus and his Father by working with his children, some of whom desperately need our services.  The children's faces may change, but their needs are often the same.  more...

Meeting the youth from the First United Methodist Church of Midland, Michigan was a true blessing to all of us at Will’s Way.  They worked so hard to prepare for our annual Easter Egg Hunt and then donated $500 dollars to Will’s Way as well.  They are our newest sponsor.

Our volunteers and supporters continue to increase.  Without them, Will’s Way could not function nor exist.

Plans are being finalized for the next great “Joel Dollar's Famous Catfish” plates sale for this month.  As they say on TV, “Stay Tuned!”.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call (256) 357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - April 2, 2012 - By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWill’s Way's annual Family Fest and Egg Hunt is April 7, 2012.  People in our area look forward to this each year.  Seeing the joy and delight in the families of the little ones faces is wonderful.

We have been hiding about 10,000 plastic eggs each year and yes, we are still picking up some of last years eggs. It is a good fund-raiser.

This year we have added a few new activities, such as a petting zoo.  Many thanks to our volunteers who have spent a lot of hours getting the red barn next to the bunk house ready for the Family Fest.

God has sent Sam Eidison to us. What an exceptional child he is. We hope he gets as much from knowing us as he has given us by just hearing his story and being able to be a part of his life. He is truly a one of God's special creations.

Thanks to our regular group of supporters who bought and sold BBQ plates for us the past three months. The funds received were a lot of help.

Joel Dollar's Famous Catfish plates will be our next food offering in May of this year.

The camps are filling up for this year. It is truly going to be a great year to serve Jesus and his Father.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call (256) 357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - March 1, 2012 - By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrSpring is in the air early this year and we are busy cleaning the property for this year's activities.  We are planting ten rose bushes in memory of our supporters’ loved ones.  Hopefully their flowers will bring a little joy to their observers, just like the people did for whom they are planted.

Many thanks to Ron who has offered to build our next bunk house. All we will have to do is furnish the plumbing, electrical, concrete, heating, roof trusses, and metal roof. God answers our prayers in ways we never expect.

We look forward to this year's challenges and are anxiously awaiting the start of our camps.  Weekend Church camps are another way of expanding.

If you know a child or a family struggling to deal with the loss of a family member or some other tragedy, please feel free to refer them to us or cal us. There is no charge for our camps.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call (256) 357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - February 1, 2012
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rr2012 is going to be a great year for all of us at Will’s Way.

The monthly BBQ plate sale on January 6, 2012 was a success.  We continue to find additional ways to improve the product, as well as making it more profitable.  The number of plates sold each month continues to grow due to the repeat business from our supporters and customers who have heard about it.

God blessed us with a visit from Siran Stacey on January 14, 2012.  He is a fine man of God.  We look forward to Shelley Stacey spending time with us this summer.  She is a gifted child.

We pray everyday that God will bless us with thriving for his Kingdom and Will’s Way.  It is exciting times to be serving the Lord by working with those who he sends to us.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - January 1, 2012, By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrThe New Year is upon us and we pray that God will allow us to share the blessings he sends to each of us with those, young and old, who reach out to Will’s Way.

As the sun sets on each of your days in 2012, ask yourself this question, “Have I lived this day for myself or someone else?”   As Bear Bryant stated, “God gave me this day and I am not going to waste it.”  It is my daily prayer that I might thrive for God's Kingdom.

Congratulations to Tim Edmondson the lucky winner of the Henry Golden Boy.  Thanks again to Rick and Sandra Valentine and their children for donating it to Will’s Way.  We raised $1,690.00 from the raffle.

MawMaw Bryant has become quite the little baker making and selling all the cakes and cookies for Will’s Way.

Many thanks to all of you for your prayers and contributions of money and time over the past years.   It brings a smile to my face thinking how many lives have been positively affected by you and the love you have shown.

I want to share this poem with you.  Someone you know may need to have it read to them this year:

When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me….. but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know
And busy your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me but let me go!

May you have a blessed Happy New Year!!

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - December 1, 2011, By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrGod sends a lot of his blessings to us through other dedicated people.  This is true for you and for me.  My husband has said many times it is easy to read a person's heart.  If it is a big heart, they are sent to you by God.

God has blessed Will’s Way many times over by sending such great and big hearted people to work for those in need through Will’s Way.

Many thanks to Joel Dollar and his crew who helped us with the fish fry on November 5, 2011.  They are the best and they cook great fish, also.

Thanks to the supporters of the Turkey Shoot and of course our staff who put it on.

Our efforts to raise funds is constant, but we are blessed to meet the challenge to serve God and his children.

The end of 2011 brings us memories of those who we served both young and old.  We pray that their lives have been changed in a positive way from their encounters at Will’s Way.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call (256) 357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - November 1, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrA life dedicated to serving God's kingdom is constantly in motion because there is never an end to the needs of his children, no matter their age.

We have a lot of activities this fall and have been blessed from each of them.  New people are coming to us offering their services and they are an answer to our prayers.  So many children will benefit in years to come from their service.

Our young people's Fall Festival rides have been a lot of fun and I think all the children, who participated, had a good time.

We celebrate the life of Horace W. Holliday, who moved to heaven on October 25, 2011.   He was William's grandfather and a benefactor of Will’s Way.  He always loved helping children and was proud of our efforts.

The children's camps for 2012 are receiving a lot of early registrants.  If you know of a child who has suffered a crisis or tragedy be sure and check out our camp program. click here.  There is no fee for attending the camps.

We get a lot of inquiries from people wanting to know how Lady is doing.  She is doing fine and has taken up permanent residence with my husband and myself.

Hope you have a blessed fall.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - October 1, 2011
By: Sandy Holliday

daisyx248rrIt is great to be here and I say that with sincerity.  I, almost, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2011, due to a severe reaction to a sulfur based antibiotic.  God must have more work for me to do and I shall continue to dedicate my life to serving those he sends to Will’s Way.

Serving others without charging them fees for the Will’s Way experience keeps us busy coming up with fund-raisers and donations.  You can see on our website the various events we have planned.

I can't wait to get some more of Joel Dollar's Famous Catfish.

Although, we have several requests, we don’t rent out the Will’s Way bunkhouse for our Will’s Way events, any more.  The revenue brought in to Will’s Way has not exceeded the cost of doing do.

Rebecca Cambre from New York is a great addition to our staff.  She is a blessed person with a dedication to serving those who come to Will’s Way.

God has initiated a lot of actions that are going to help Will’s Way in the near future and for that we are thankful.

Please pray for us and those we serve.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - September 13, 2011
By: Sandy Holliday

daisyx248rrI am writing this month's Blessings because my wife, Re, has been very ill for the past several weeks, but is now on the road to recovery.

This past year she had worked tirelessly to complete several Will’s Way projects and conduct the camps.  All of these were completed very successfully.

God is sending us new people, who are coming on board to serve others through Will’s Way.  They are an answer to our prayers.  Having suffered loss of their own children and /or having been victims of abuse during their own childhood, they are great examples of turning to God rather than being self consumed with pity and turning in the wrong direction.

We are excited about the coming year and being allowed to serve those God sends to us.

This fall we are bringing in certain children for a return camp at Will’s Way.  These are the ones we feel will benefit most from a session where there are only a few in attendance and we can spend more time with them on their individual issues.

Thank you for your support and prayers.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - August 12, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWe had some 200 children attend camps at Will’s Way this summer.  What a blessing it is that God allows our volunteers and myself to help them.

They come with problems such as having had both parents commit suicide , loss of a parent by unexpected natural deaths, and abuse.  Each of them know the love of God when they leave and are given a sense of knowledge that they do have control by trusting and believing in God.

Many thanks to all the donors and volunteers who made all of this possible.  Will’s Way is receiving many referrals from outside agencies and counselors who have heard of our success in dealing with those who come and for this we give our thanks.

The bunkhouse is complete after two years of work and the portable toilet / shower unit trailer is 90% complete.

Next year's camps will be limited to 15 per camp until we are able to expand our staff and facilities.  It is very important that each child receive special attention to his or her hurt.

God Bless Blake Lazenby, a special person who was taken on July 27, 2011.  He was a supporter of Will’s Way and had a heart bigger than most.  My husband and I met with a family after his funeral whom he had just put us in touch with who had lost their son.  It was an appropriate way to celebrate his life.

It has been a great year and we pray that God will allow us to continue to serve his Kingdom.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

Alabama Tornado Relief

April 28, 2011: The Red Cross has asked Will's Way to send a group of its volunteers to work with the families who have suffered loss of loved ones yesterday in the terrible storms that devastated portions of Alabama. Our volunteers leave (Friday April 29) tomorrow morning. We pray God's blessings on our Will’s Way Volunteers and the families they will serve.

May 18, 2011: One of the many blessings we received while helping with the tornado relief efforts in Ohatchee and St. Clair County areas was meeting special people with godly hearts devoted to serving others.  One such organization was Ten Island Baptist Church, Ohatchee, Alabama.  It turned its sanctuary into a shelter and distributed food, clothing, etc. from its fellowship hall around the clock beginning the night the tornado struck.  We want to share with you a note we received from Rev. Lee Bridges its Pastor, which was sent to Will's Way:"

Re,

We just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us and the community in our time of great need. May God bless you and your ministry.

Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Lee Bridges
Pastor, Ten Island Baptist Church

“Lady” and Re
THE LITTLE SURVIVOR

On the night of May 2nd, 2011, some of our Will's Way volunteers were helping Red Cross staff a shelter on Shoal Creek Road near Asheville, AL.

About 10:30 pm, Sandy was standing in the parking lot of the Greensport Baptist Church, which as being used as a shelter, talking to three National Guardsmen, who were performing security duties in the area.

A small female dog came and laid down at their feet. It was easy to see that she wanted some loving. After the four men had petted her , she got to feeling at ease. She ended up sleeping outside the shelter with Re and Michelle in the Excursion. The next day she would not leave, so Re went across the road to the St. Clair County Sheriff's field post, which had been opened after the tornadoes struck the area, to try to find out if someone knew to whom the dog belonged. The staff at the post informed Re that she showed up at the post the morning after the storms and had been there ever since. They were certain that the dog's family had died in the disaster.

It was suggested that Re take the dog back to Will's Way or it would have to be turned over to the dog pound, so she did.   The children at Will's Way named the dog "Lady" and prepared fliers to hand out on the next relief trip to the area and she was listed on the lost pets web page for the Alabama tornado victims. No one has come forward to claim Lady, so it must be true that her family did not make it through the storm.  Lady's family had to be great people, because she is the most loving dog we have ever met, obedient and house broken. She has wounds on her left rear leg from injuries she sustained in the storm.

The storms changed thousands of lives both human and animal.   We are glad to have Lady living with us now.  She will be an inspiration to a lot of hurting people during her lifetime.

There is a similarity between how Lady responded to her loss and how those of us who have suffered our own personal tragedies and losses respond.  Lady reached out during her suffering to others.  Some of us find it difficult to reach out to others after suffering our own personal tragedies and losses.  Reaching out for help from those who have been down that path before themselves, ahead of us, is one of the best ways to become able to function again, while dealing with the mental anguish caused by the loss or tragedy.

We at Will's Way have labeled it "Getting back on the pathway for life."    Lady could have not reached out, been put in a dog pound and eventually put to sleep.  We owe it to our loved ones we have lost, to not be put to sleep by our own tragedy, but to move forward with God's strength, which he will send to us, and help those unfortunate enough to suffer similarly, after us.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - June 3, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWe can, only, say that the past several weeks have been extremely busy and full of Godly treasures.  There are so many stories of the wonderful people we met during the tornado relief efforts.  This includes the survivors and the relief workers.  Each survivor, young and old, has a remarkable story of their own.  It is not our place to share the stories they have told us.  God was with each of them and he sent his army of helpers to them as soon as the storms were over.  We were blessed to get to meet some of them.

We want to say a very special “Thank You” to Trooper Butts, of the Alabama State Troopers, for his help and friendship shown to all of our volunteers and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department staff.

There is a special camp at Will’s Way this summer for some of the children who survived the storm.  We can't wait to see the children again.

Will’s Way has been truly, truly blessed during its efforts to renovate the old farm house into a bunkhouse for 40 people.  We stepped out on faith that God would provide the necessary assistance and funds to complete the project. Our faith in God was returned to us by his providing the funds and some businesses and individuals without whom we could not have done the project.  Some of them are:  Robert Pesnell and Tri-County Plumbing, Dale Green and Randolph County Appliance, Vinson Griffin and Ace Air, Lynn Barter and Ornamental Metal Contractors, Inc., Larry McDaniel, James McCain, Tom and Charley Norton and Norton’s Flooring. These businessmen donated materials and labor that we could not afford.  God will return these blessings to them many fold.

A special thanks to all of our volunteers, young and old, who have put in 12 and 14 hours days working on the project for the past several months.

Should anyone question whether it is all worth it, they should just witness the young children who attended our first camp this week.  A few of them had a history of being abused.  Their response to our staff's efforts and love shown to them brought forth positive reactions in each of them.  They all want to come back to Will’s Way, soon, and each of them expressed how much they love our staff and Will’s Way, when they left.  Our program has children who have suffered from crisis, tragedy or abuse coming to camp with children who don't have such a background and the results have been great.

Just seeing the positive response of one particular child, who had suffered abuse, to this week's camp makes all the hard work worthwhile, even if there weren't about 100 or more children like that one coming to camp at Will’s Way this summer.  As a special treat we gave each of them a Summer 2011 Camp shirt.

We could use a full size bed for the guest room at the bunkhouse, if you know of someone who would like to donate one.

Please keep us and those we serve in your prayers.  All donations are greatly appreciated by those we serve and our staff.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - May 4, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWill’s Way has been blessed to be allowed to help in the recovery efforts by volunteering through our local Red Cross for the victims of the tornadoes that hit Alabama on 4/27/11.

Our volunteers have worked in Ohatchee and Ashville beginning on 4/28/11.  On 4/30/11 we went to Ten Island Baptist Church to relieve the staff of the shelter there.  God blessed us with the opportunity to work with some of the survivors and their children.  When it came time to leave on Sunday afternoon I had a very difficult time getting our people to stop working with all the children so we could leave.  I have never been prouder of our great volunteers than I was then.  Seeing the reactions of the little ones to them was wonderful.

We gave out our remaining “You Are Loved” teddy bears to some of the children.  These had been given to Will’s Way by the great people of Old North Church in Canfield, Ohio.

Many thanks to the Red Cross for all they do.

It is our plan to return to Ohatchee this weekend to check on the survivors and volunteers working with them and stay if needed.

You will be as proud as we are to know that some of these children who survived the tornadoes are coming to our camp this summer.  I don’t know if they are more excited than we are that we will get to have this time together.

All of us at Will’s Way cherish the opportunity God has given us to serve those who are suffering a tragedy or crisis.  We had no idea that our services would be needed for an event of this magnitude.

Progress is slowly being made on the renovations to the bunkhouse.  We work on it when not in the filed helping the survivors.

Thank all of you for supporting Will’s Way with your prayers, donations, and work.  May God be pleased with our efforts.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - April 12, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrThe winds of March brought a lot of God's blessings to Will’s Way.  Charles Mote joined our team to take over the electrical rework of the bunkhouse.  He is a pleasure to work with and a pro at electrical installation.  Ace Air, LaGrange, Georgia, took over the installation of the central heat and air system, so we could proceed to put up the new wall and ceilings.  Tri County Plumbing is always there for us to perform all the plumbing requirements and Delmer Green of Randolph County Appliance has taken over the installation of the gas lines for the kitchen and the water heater.

Michelle Adamson, Linda Bryant and James Bryant have done a wonderful job putting up the new walls.  God has sent us the best of each profession to help in the renovation of the bunkhouse and that includes Lynn Barter and Ornamental Metal Contracting, Inc. of Newnan, Georgia, who installed the hand rails and the stainless steel kitchen walls.

We will be completed with the bunkhouse well in advance of our first camp.  Several of our camps are already full.  God always includes in each camp at least one child with special needs in his or her life.  We know each year God will send children and adults to us to help them heal from their own personal tragedy.  That is the main mission of Will’s Way and for that we are thankful.

The catfish plate sale on April 9, 2011, was a great success.  We sold 395 plates.  95 of the plates were sold at the cookout to walk-ups.  Many thanks to Joel Dollar and his volunteers for their hard work, dedication and wonderful food.  A special thanks to Lynn and the Farmhouse Restaurant in Roanoke for providing the slaw.

Our 10,000 egg Annual Easter Egg Hunt is April 23, 2011.  There is no admission charge.  Come join us.  There are music, games and food available.  Bring your own lawn chair.  It will be a fun time for all.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - March 3, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrClouds can't hide the sunshine for very long.  Just like God, the sun is always there.  Keep that in mind as you encounter life's daily struggles.

A great big welcome to Word Alive Church (www.wordalive.org ) to the Will’s Way family.  Thank you for having your awesome praise and worship band open for the Charles Billingsley concert on August 5, 2011.  News of this event is spreading and tickets are already being purchased.  It is going to be a blessed event for all who attend.  There are a limited number of tickets available.  You may wish to purchase your tickets now.

We want to thank Grace Baptist Church and its volunteers for helping us get the old farmhouse renovation to its present stage.  Jimmy Driver and Billy Driver have been a lot of fun to work with and have become good friends.

Our Facebook page has become a great source for providing updates to our friends and supporters.  There are several volunteers who contribute to it on a daily basis.
Joel Dollar's crew is gearing up for the catfish fry on April 9, 2011 and a lot of people are anxiously awaiting this treat.  Don't miss it.

Check out the camps / activities page of our website.  You will see all the plans we have for the children and how much fun they are going to have while they are healing.

Our biggest thank you is to God for allowing us the opportunity to serve him and his kingdom.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - February 9, 2011
By: Re Holliday

daisyx248rrWe pray for God’s blessings.  He hears our prayers and with his blessings come a lot of responsibilities and work.

Planning and preparing for all the Will’s Way activities this year is exciting.  There are numerous camps, retreats and fund raising activities in store for all.

Our Annual Egg Hunt is April 23, 2011.  We offer booths for rent from which you keep all the proceeds.  The booths can be for food sales, games, cake walk, etc. We only ask for a $20.00 booth rental fee to Will’s Way.  Will’s Way will hide 10,000 eggs and provide the prizes.  The event is from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with the Egg Hunt starting at 2:00 p.m.  Admission and the Egg Hunt are FREE!

One lesson we have learned is when the devil attacks our efforts, turn his disciples over to God and let him take care of them.  We are charged to move on with God’s work with a positive attitude.  This allows us to accomplish much more than we would, if we dwelled on the negative.

We are excited about having Charles Billingsley perform at Will’s Way on August 5, 2011.  Don’t miss his performance.  He is an awesome singer who delivers a powerful message with his songs and words.

Many of the children whom we have helped deal with their tragedies in the past are already scheduled to come back to visit us this year.  We look forward to seeing them again.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - By: Re Holliday, January 7, 2011

daisyx248rrWelcome 2011.  It is going to be a year of blessings for those who reach out for help from God.

We pray that our effort to help others this year will be as successful, as in the past.
The renovations on the old farmhouse are going very well.  We will be able to sleep 40 guests once it is complete.  There will be a large commercial type kitchen and dining hall included in the addition.  All of this work has been performed by the volunteers and made possible by donations of Will’s Way supporters.

Already we are being contacted by young people who need help with their own personal tragedies and look forward to the time, soon, when they can come stay with us at Will’s Way for a few days.

Please remember that Will’s Way can only continue its mission, if it receives donations from its supporters and any financial assistance you can give will be used exclusively to maintain Will’s Way and its goal of service to its guests at no charge.  It takes about $4,500 per month to pay the mortgages on the Will’s Way land, utilities, food for guests, etc.   No donation is too small or too big and is truly received as a blessing from you.

If your church or organization wants to hold a retreat at Will’s Way please contact us and we will see if it can be scheduled.

May God Bless You and keep you safe.  If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - By: Re Holliday, December 1, 2010

daisyx248rrThe holiday season is always difficult for families who have lost a loved one since the last season. Comfort them with your thoughts and prayers.

As a parent who lost her only child, I always dread the holiday season and find that staying busy working for Will’s Way and helping others helps me thru the season.  You are always welcome to call me or come visit Will’s Way during this time.  Maybe we can help each other with God’s Blessings.

The remodeling of the old farmhouse into a bunkhouse is really going well.  It is going to be a nice facility when all the work is done and can house about 40 people for their visits.  Many thanks to Leroy O’Neal, Ricky Smith, Terry Prothro, Brannon Hickman, Adam Fincher, and Justin Whaley for their work.  Paw Paw Bryant, Billy Driver and Jimmy Driver are great directors of this work project.  We thank God everyday for them.
The youth bonfires we held in November were a success and well attended.  Due to the weather we won’t be able to have any during December.

Billy Herren donated an airplane from the former Six Flags ride to Will’s Way.  It measures 18 feet x 20 feet and we are going to place it by the sign on US Highway 431 once it is painted with clouds and has the slogan “Flying with Angels” painted on its wings.

May God Bless You and keep you safe.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - By: Re Holliday, November 3, 2010

daisyx248rrThe hay ride for children 12 years and younger was a lot of fun and a good fundraiser.  We will do it again next year, along with our plans to have a Christmas Fantasy hay ride for all ages next year.

We are grateful for all the new volunteers, who are stepping forward to help us in the varied tasks we have to accomplish.

The remodeling of the old farm house is going well.  It will be a great blessing to have the large kitchen and dining area available next spring.  The volunteers from Grace Baptist in LaGrange, Georgia are in charge of the project and needless to say they are perfectionist at everything they do.

It is amazing what people of faith can accomplish together and it is always comforting to be with them.  Such is the atmosphere at Will’s Way and that is a small portion of the healing formula which is so successful for those who reach out to us.

MikeRogersx200wCongressman Mike Rogers recently came for a tour and all of us enjoyed him and became aware of his desire that we continue our efforts.  We look forward to his family’s involvement at Will’s Way.

Christmas is a difficult time for families who have lost a child or loved one.  Be kind and let them know they are loved and their feelings are understood.  Don’t push them to do things they just can’t handle.

We pray everyday that God will continue to bless Will’s Way and those involved with it.  The opportunity to be his servants in this portion of his kingdom at Will’s Way is a blessing in and of itself.

We are always here for you.
Your donation of time and funds are blessing a lot of people, young and old.

daisyx248rrOur first annual Amateur Dog Show was a wonderful success.   It was great having so many dog lovers together, each with their pride and joy.  The costumes were cute.  Many thanks to Prestige Pups for their hard work and the trophies they provided.  They do a tremendous job grooming dogs of all sizes.

Well we finally are at the point that we will be completing the remodeling of the old farm house and completing the portable shower trailer.  Grace Baptist Church of LaGrange, Georgia is a major factor in our being able to complete these projects, along with Johnny Tennant of Roanoke, Alabama.

Robert and Ruby Pesnell have blessed us several times, recently, by fixing our plumbing and water line problems.

A good motto to have is that “behind every challenge is an even greater blessing”.  We need to just keep the faith and trust God.

Due to the completion of the construction projects we can’t have any activities at the farm house, but we are always open to help those who reach out to Will’s Way.

Grace Baptist Church, LaGrange, Georgia, held any overnight youth camp on October 1.  They are a great group of faithful and dedicated Christians.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

We are always here for you.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - By: Re Holliday, September 3, 2010

daisyx248rrHaving faith and keeping faith in God is the key to our being able to travel the path of life even after suffering a tragedy or loss.

Seeing the blessings come to Will’s Way and to those who reach out to it gives us strength to continue to face the financial obstacles we are confronted with to keep this haven of God’s kingdom available.

A good example of this is how God put Will’s Way and Grace Baptist Church of LaGrange, Georgia together.  A few weeks ago I had been invited to give a program on Will’s Way to Grace Baptist on a Tuesday night.  On the day I was to make the presentation, I woke up sick and went to the doctor’s office in Ashland.  During my return trip home, I came within about 3 feet of being hit in the side by a large truck hauling gravel.  Unnerved and sick I started to call and cancel the appointment several times.  However, I felt moved to keep the appointment and that keeping it was God’s will.  I had never been to Grace Baptist Church and didn’t know anyone who attended it.  When I arrived the members were very comforting and hospitable.  It was a large church and had a large crowd gathered for my presentation.  I had prepared some notes to guide me in my presentation, but not long in my presentation I felt compelled to put the notes down and talk to those in attendance about my spirituality and emotions in dealing with the loss of a loved one.  It was as if God was telling me to talk to those people about what was truly in my heart tonight.  My apprehension about doing so was soon relieved.  The audience seemed moved by my openness and sincerity.  Several of them thanked me for the presentation.  They were very gracious.

The next morning, Rev. Benefield, the pastor at Grace Baptist, called me.  He said when he came to church that morning after my presentation, a man he did not know was waiting on him in the parking lot.  He said that man told him that he had to go inside the church and he didn’t know why, but the night before he had been moved by God to come to the church to attend whatever event was being held there.  He said he drove by the church two times that night, went home and was told by God to go to the church and so he returned and pulled in the parking lot of the church, but due to the large number of cars there he felt he would not go inside because he didn’t know why he was suppose to be there and didn’t know anybody inside.  The man then related to Rev. Benefield that he had lost his wife a year ago and had not been able to deal with his loss and he was desperately needing help.  The pastor told him at that point he should have listened to God and come in the church that night, because the presentation was about dealing with the loss of a loved one and that he could have been on his path to healing had he attended.

This was truly an act of God on both myself and the stranger.  We have to listen to God when he speaks to us.  God’s actions have caused a newly formed bond between Grace Baptist Church and Will’s Way that we are excited about and grateful for.

We have completed the installation of the water line and are working on completing the portable toilet/shower trailer and the farm house/ bunk house office.  Our new metal roof should be installed  within the next two weeks, which  will allow us to complete the dining hall and remodel the interior of the old house by painting it and recovering the floors with carpet and tile being donated by Flooring Contracting Services, LLC.

A special thanks to Daryl Farr for painting the Will’s Way logo on the trailor.  It is beautiful.

One person that doesn’t get enough thanks for all the hard work she does as a volunteer is Michelle Adamson.  We couldn’t be where we are without her.  She is truly a blessing.

Our dog show is September 25, 2010 and it looks to be a popular fundraising event.

Also, many thanks to Carolyn Carter for her help.  We are helping each other deal with our personal tragedies together as we work for others.  We are always here for you.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY - By: Re Holliday, August 4, 2010

daisyx248rrWe thank God for allowing us the opportunity to serve him through Will’s Way.

I have lost count of the number of young people and adults who have been touched by Will’s Way this summer.  Our staff and I have shared a lot of hugs and tears with them.  We all shed tears when sharing each story, young and old, and we all shared bonding hugs, as we said to each of them you can begin to heal and God and our staff will always be here for you.

God has sent people from all over the United States to us this summer.  This just is our third year of existence.  The future is exciting, knowing that we are allowed to help those who are hurting.

CAMPWeBELONG

Our local summer camp was attended by eight children who had lost one or more of their parents.  We had a specially selected group of other children attend the camp with them.  It helps to teach them to be children again, when they are with other children who understand their needs and want to help them be children again.  They need to know that the event that took their parent or parents was not their fault and to understand that their remaining parent’s behavior will be different at times and how to respond to that new behavior.  Some of them didn’t want to come to Will’s Way at the beginning and none of them want to leave Will’s Way at the end.  That is God’s blessings to them and us that we are allowed to help them.

Now that school is starting, we will be having camps on the weekends for those special children and adults, who ever they are and from wherever they come.

Don’t let anyone convince you that today’s children are spoiled and can’t take it.  Our old farm house doesn’t have air conditioning and stays in the nineties.  Yet the children don’t seem to mind and don’t complain about the food we serve, which is limited due to the cost.  I guess its kind of like going on a camping trip and sleeping under a fixed roof rather than a tent.

We never know when a family is going to reach out to us but we are always available for them.

People report seeing Will’s Way shirts all over the country from Ohio to Florida.  Be sure and say hello when you see a person wearing one of our shirts.  Get one click here

Stayed tuned.  There are people who are going to need us and through your support we will continue to be there for them.

SIFAT WORK DAY

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, July 13, 2010, By: Re Holliday

Our summer has been great and very busy.  Already, we have had two groups of young people from Orlando, one from Chicago and one from Mississippi come visit us, plus our regular camp participants.

Young people having to cope with the loss of a parent, a sibling and loss of friends has been the focus of our efforts for some of our camps.  It is a true blessing to see these children begin to heal after their experience at Will’s Way.

We want to say a big “Thanks” to Fernside in Cincinnati for their help in providing us some of the information we use for these children.

Each week at Will’s Way brings on new challenges in helping those young and old who reach out to us.  We never know what new challenges we will face, but are blessed that God allows us the opportunity to serve these individuals.

The Payton Overton fundraiser will be held at Will’s Way on July 24, 2010.  Watch the paper for ads about it.

Our new t-shits are in and we are very proud of them.  They are on sell for $10.00 each.
Due to the response to our summer camps, we have to put a one week pre-registration requirement on all attendees.  We have to limit the number attending and the various camps are set-up for different age groups.

One of our rescued dogs now has a new home in Orlando.  She will be a great addition to that family.  She left on the bus sitting in her seat wearing her seat belt.  It was quite a cute scene.

We have been invited to make a presentation about Will’s Way in Orlando, Florida and will probably do so in the near future.  God is opening a lot of doors for Will’s Way.

Please contact us if you desire a tour or have any questions, 256-357-4035 or www.willsway.org

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, June 28, 2010, By: Re Holliday

In addition to over 24 young campers who stayed at Will’s Way for a five day camp last week, we had over 46 young people from near Orlando, Florida come spend the day with us.  They had heard about Will’s Way last year and were excited to finally get to come. They were a wonderful group of children.  Talk about spreading out God’s blessings the last two groups were from Florida and Chicago.  There were children in each group who were dealing with the loss of their young friends and we hope that their time spent at Will’s Way helped each of them.  A special “Thanks” to Steve Dean for making movie night possible.

This week we are having a camp for some special young people dealing with tragedies.  With God’s help, we hope to make a positive impact on them and their struggles.

We have to limit the number of campers we can take for each camp, based on their age and the situation each is facing.  If you or your child wants to attend, please call and we will try to place you in the right camp.

Our summer schedule and activities keep growing and that is a blessing in itself.  This allows us to reach more people and their needs.

We will to have our new 2010 T-shirts for sale in about a week.  The price for each will be $10.00

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, June 21, 2010, By: Re Holliday

Last Thursday we had the pleasure of having 20 children from Chicago come visit Will’s Way.  What a great group of young people and chaperones they were.  They constructed a walking trail and a flower bed in memory of two of their friends who had recently died.  It was an emotional experience shared by all of us.  We are going to mark the trail and the flower bed in honor of their friends.

I thank God for allowing me to see the wondrous blessings he sends to those who are suffering.

We are having our first four day camp this week and want to say a big “Thank You” to all the volunteers who helped us prepare the toilets and showers in the box trailer and who prepared the bunk house.  The hot weather didn’t slow us down.

Our new Will’s Way t-shirts will be available for sale soon.  Call us if you want one or more.

Don’t forget that our Water Park Fun Day at Will’s Way will be Saturday July 3.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, June 7, 2010, By: Re Holliday

Many thanks to Joel Dollar and his crew for their hard work cooking for the Catfish Plate Fundraiser on June 5, 2010.  The food was delicious.  We have had many compliments about how exceptional the plates were.  Also, many thanks to the many Will’s Way volunteers who helped us on June 5, 2010.

We were blessed to have 68 children at Will’s Way on June 3, 2010.  Some were from Mississippi.  They built a flower garden near the outdoor chapel. It is beautiful.

One child asked how did Fred, the other dogs and the cats got to live at Will’s Way.  I told her they were donated to Will’s Way.  She replied that she wants to be donated to Will’s Way and then asked me, if I could get her donated to Will’s Way.

We enjoyed having the Girl Scouts spend the week with us.  Rhonda Ashworth did a great job with them.  Our summer is going to be busy with camps and fundraisers.  Some of the events are:

  • June 19, 2010 Turkey Shoot
  • June 21-23, 2010 Camp Weanoke for ages 6-12 (5 day camp)

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, May 17, 2010, By: Re Holliday

We want to thank the Lowell United Methodist Church UMW for having us as their guests on May 11, to make a presentation on Will’s Way.  It was a very enjoyable meeting and they were generous hosts.  The food was very good, also.

Will’s Way is a unique organization and is receiving recognition for its efforts from throughout the United States.  We want to thank all the individuals and businesses that have donated funds so those who are suffering from tragedy and loss can find help, peace and hope through God’s volunteers at Will’s Way.

The summer months are going to be filled with a lot of events for Will’s Way, including the June 5 catfish plate sale.  A large number Girl Scouts will be staying with us the first week of June.

Our pet family grew by one rescue last week, when Roscoe was rescued and brought to us by U.S. Army personnel.  He is a very loving dog and fit right in with Fred, C.J. and the cats.  You have to pet them when you come by.

A lot of people have asked who owns Will’s Way, Inc. and our answer is God owns it.  No person on this earth does.  It is a charitable 501©3 corporation, using God’s land to help those who reach out to it.

If you would like a presentation made to your group or church, call us at 256-357-4035.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, May 10, 2010, By: Re Holliday

First Baptist Church of Roanoke, AL had a great youth retreat the weekend of May 1st.  We are happy they chose Will’s Way as the site for their youth to spend the weekend.

Our Antique and Collectable Auction held on May 8, 2010 was a success.  We raised $572.00

God has blessed Will’s Way in many ways and it is our responsibility to see that his blessings are returned.  If you could donate at least $25.00 per month to Will’s Way, it would go a long ways towards meeting its monthly needs.  It takes about $4,000.00 per month for Will’s Way to meets its regular obligations, which include utilities, mortgage payments, insurance, food and vet bills for the rescued animals, etc.  Plus, there are other bills we have incurred in improving the facility and maintaining the equipment.  Will’s Way volunteers have regular fundraisers, but only through generous donations of $25.00 per month or more, can we meet the current needs and grow toward the future for all those who are going to need Will’s Way.  All donations are tax deductable.

The following up coming events have been scheduled:

  • June 5, 2010-Joel Dollar’s Famous Catfish Plate Sale
  • From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Plates are $8.00 each and carryouts will be available
  • July 3, 2010- Water Park at Will’s Way
  • Fun day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All types of water rides and games for all ages.
  • Other events are being planned for this summer:

Dog Show, Skeet Shoot, Turkey Shoot, Bluegrass festival, other auctions

Many thanks to Amanda for all the help she gives Will’s Way on Wednesday.  She has actively taken on responsibility for several projects.

Keep us in your prayers and for any further information you need, call us at 256-357-4035

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, March 15, 2010, By: Re Holliday

We are having a very good response from local churches and civic organizations, who are renting booths at our 3rd Annual Egg Hunt on April 3, 2010.  These should be good fund raisers for them and will add alot more activities, food and fun for those attending the Egg Hunt.  This should be our largest Egg Hunt, so far.

Several organizations are having weekend religious retreats at Will’s Way this spring and summer.  They can have a ladies’ only, a men’s only or a youth retreat.  All for faith based activities.

God continues to bless us each week with new people reaching out to Will’s Way for help in confronting their own personal tragedies or losses.  Many thanks to our friends from Louisiana  and Georgia.

We had a good Overflow Youth Rally on March 6, 2010 at the Armory in Roanoke.  Our next on will be at the stage at Will’s Way during April.

For more information about any of our activities or retreats, please call us at 256-357-4035

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, March 1, 2010, By: Re Holliday

Now that God is opening windows so we can see, a beautiful spring and nicer weather we are preparing for a busy spring and summer.

This past weekend we held our first Turkey Shoot.  It was a great success and for those of us that didn’t know the participants shoot at targets, not turkeys and are awarded various prizes if they win.  It was great to meet a lot of new faces at the shoot.  We are planning to have turkey shoots in June and October, with a big skeet shoot in July.  The funds we received are much needed.

A ladies church group from Bowden, Georgia, is holding a retreat at Will’s Way this month.

Please say a prayer for Pam and Darrell from Louisiana.  They came to help us with the Turkey Shoot and while here learned that one of their best friend’s daughter had died as the result of complications from a car wreck.

It is a blessing and truly amazing to hear how far the word about Will’s Way is spreading.  God is blessing so many lives, both young and old,, through the efforts of Will’s Way and its volunteers.

If your church, school or civic group needs a fund raiser, then plan to set up a booth at our Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 3.  Slots are available for $50.00 each and all the proceeds you raise are your own.  Slots are reserved on a priority based upon receipt of the $50.00 fee.  Thousands of people have attended our first two Egg Hunts and we expect a large crowd this year.  We will be hiding over 10,000 Easter Eggs this year.

New Year’s Eve Youth Rally - December 2009

We are having a New Year’s Eve youth Rally at Will’s Way beginning at 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2009, for those all ages, with a camp-out to follow for ages 14-18.

There will be free food, fun, fireworks, and faith services during the rally.  Will’s Way’s contemporary Christian music band will be performing their own original music and other popular songs.  The festivities will conclude soon after midnight and for those who want to spend the night (ages 14-18), we are providing separate sleeping quarters for the boys and the girls.  Those staying to welcome in the New Year are encouraged to spend the night.  Donations are accepted, but there are no charges.

Advance notice of those wishing to spend the night would be much appreciated.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, November 2, 2009, By: Re Holliday

God has the ability to overcome a lot of obstacles placed in our paths by our fellow man.  A good example of this is that we were invited to come to Heard County Middle School in Franklin, Georgia, to give a program on October 30, 2009, about Will’s Way and our faith based mission to help children and families who are suffering.  Because we are a charity that helps children, we could talk about how we help them, which meant there were no limitations on us to talk about God and Jesus, since they are the foundation of our efforts.

There were 521 children plus their teachers and counselors in attendance.  Ann, Byron and A.J. gave their awesome personal testimonies about their past and how their faith and Will’s Way have changed their lives.  It was very moving, even to those of us from Will’s Way who attended.  The children gave them a resounding ovation for the program and a lot of them gave them a standing ovation.

God has shown us how to bring his message into the schools and we hope to give more programs like this one.

Our grateful thanks go out to the administration and staff of Heard County Middle School for allowing us to share our faith with these students.  Maybe we planted a lot of seeds of hope and faith with these young people.

If your school or organization is interested in such a program, please contact us.

Our next ladies weekend is November 13th and 14th.  Please call if you wish to attend.  Many thanks to God and our donors who help make all this possible.

Our next Overflow Youth Rally will be November 21, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. under the big top tent, which will be heated.  Rain or shine the Youth Rallies will be at Will’s Way from this point forward.  Food is served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  These are great events for youth, be sure your teenagers attend.  Everything is free.

Many thanks to the following people for their donations:  Larry and Debra Keel for the two tents, Carson and Ann Traylor for the deep freezer and Greg Norred for the big top tent.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, October 5, 2009, By: Re Holliday

We were blessed to have a ladies Christian group from Bessemer, Alabama, for a retreat this past weekend.  They were a wonderful group of ladies and we appreciate very much their donation.  They held a picnic at our Cross area on Saturday night.

I was honored to be allowed to speak at Team Time at New Beginnings Church on Tuesday night.  What a blessing that church is giving to its young people through Jeffery and Jackie Henderson.  We want to thank them for their support and involvement with our Will’s Way activities, as well.

The Wadley Kiwanis Club allowed me to speak this past Friday at their meeting.  I appreciate the opportunity to inform them about our organization.  They had some very good questions that gave me the opportunity to explain in detail how we function and about our goals.

Sandy and I will be guests for a one hour radio talk show this Friday in Anniston (WDNG-1450 AM) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the program topic being Will’s Way and its mission.  Will’s Way has alot of dedicated supporters from Calhoun County and we appreciate this opportunity.

Due to conflicts with several school and church activities in our area on October 10, 2009, we are canceling the Fall Festival scheduled for that date.  It is important that our youth attend their respective school and church activities on this date.

We are excited about the Overflow Youth Rally which will be held on October 24, 2009, at the Will’s Way Amphitheatre.  We will serve chili from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.  Please plan for your young people to attend.  All food and activities are free.

Along with our other activities, we will begin on the weekend of November 7, 2009, holding ladies only Christian retreats at Will’s Way.  The retreats will begin on Friday night and last until Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Food and on site lodging will be provided.    Please call us if you or your church is interested.

BLESSINGS AT WILL’S WAY, September 14, 2009, By: Re Holliday

God has sent many blessings to those who have reached out to Will’s Way and to Will’s Way, itself.  Eight of our children have been Baptized in the last two weeks.  It is a new life for them and one full of potential for themselves and those with whom they come in contact.

All of these blessings have been assisted by our volunteers and donors, each one of which is a blessing in their own special way.  Some of them are:

  • Bear Creek Church of Woodland’s donation of pillows.
  • Judy Parresll’s donation of pillows, blankets and stuffed animals.
  • Betty Shelton and family for their donation of cabinet doors, sink and mirrors.
  • All the men working on the addition of the kitchen and dining facility at our office.
  • The church families making all our events possible.  We encourage everyone to get involved with a loving church family.

We had a successful End of Summer Bash this past weekend and are planning a wonderful Old Fashioned Fall Festival for October 10, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The largest event we have ever had at Will’s Way is going to be the Overflow at Will’s Way Youth Rally on September 26, 2009.  It is a combined effort of churches from Randolph and Calhoun Counties.  There will be free food from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.  The program includes live skits, Christian music, personal testimony from several young people and a youth oriented service.  We hope this becomes a monthly event for all this area’s young people.  We want to thank our sponsors for their donations which have made this event possible:  Bank of Wedowee, Small Town Bank, First State Bank, 431 Auto and Body Repair, Gedney’s Restaurant, Quattlebaum and Benefield Funeral Homes, Meadow’s Farm Equipment, Grandview Antiques and Auction, WTW Enterprises and M.L. Awbrey, Inc.  There is no charge, but donations will be gratefully accepted for this event.

We adopted out three rescued dogs this past week to wonderful homes.  There are still four other dogs available at Will’s Way for adoption.  There is no fee, but a donation would be appreciated.

Due to scheduling problems with the talent, we are rescheduling the Southern Gospel Concert from September 19, 2009 to a later date.

If you are lead to volunteer to help others, we can always use your services helping others, such as prayer walkers , cooking, cleaning, building, repairs, outdoor clean up and fundraiser workers.

Starting September 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., we will have ladies in grief support group meetings at the Will’s Way Office.  This is open to all ladies suffering grief from whatever source.  Please call to inquire.

Soon we will begin our men’s grief support group meetings.  They will be held on Monday nights at the Will’s Way Office.  Please call if you are interested.

NAMI Wedowee Family to Family class has blessed us in several ways.  We have had great teachers to teach us how to deal with those suffering from mental illness.  Call 256-357-2400, if you are interested in joining the classes.
